Heart-shaped island in the South Pacific Today’s Video of the Day from the European Space Agency honors Valentine’s Day with a heart-shaped island in the South Pacific.

Moorea is a volcanic island located in the French Polynesia’s Society Archipelago around 20 kilometers northwest of Tahiti.

Moorea’s lush vegetation, which contributes to its tropical appearance, is highlighted in red for this image.

The island is also surrounded by a coral reef filled with an abundance of fish and corals that are high in diversity.

According to the ESA, this image from the Copernicus Sentinel-2 captures both the beauty and fragility of our planet. The heart-shaped island resort of Tavarua in Fiji is considered one of the world’s most best surfing destinations. It’s known as home to one of the most famous breaks in the surfing world—Cloubreak. Located in the middle of Bucks Harbor, Brooksville, Maine, this forested heart-shaped island is home to a modest cabin on its shore. Besides the bay being a very popular summer colony, Harbor Island offers privacy and peace. The island was sold to a state-wide land conservation organization in order to protect this natural beauty.

It’s a common misconception that Tahiti is a heart-shaped island. But what many people may have been referring to is the heart-shaped atoll of Tupai in the island chain of Tahiti.
