Bucculatrix pannonica

Description

Bucculatrix pannonica is a moth in the family Bucculatricidae. It was described by Deschka in 1982. It is found in Austria and Slovakia. The length of the forewings is about 4 mm. The ground colour of the forewings is white with bright ochreous markings. The hindwings are light grey. The larvae feed on Artemisia scoparia and Artemisia santonicum. They mine the leaves of their host plant. The mine has the form of a long, narrow corridor following the leaf margin. The larvae vacate the mine and create secondary mines, starting at the leaf margin. Young larvae are yellow with a dark brown head. Older larvae are grey-green. The species overwinters as an egg or young larva.
