Cameraria macrocarpella

Description

Cameraria macrocarpella is a moth of the family Gracillariidae. It is known from Ontario and Quebec in Canada, and New Jersey, Texas, Maine, Maryland, New York, Illinois and Vermont in the United States. The wingspan is 8.5–9 mm. The larvae feed on Castanea species and Quercus macrocarpa. They mine the leaves of their host plant. The mine has the form of a blotch mine on the upperside of the leaf. Cameraria is a genus of moths in the family Gracillariidae, which includes many species of leaf miners. One of the best known species is the horse-chestnut leaf miner, Cameraria ohridella.
