Description

Caenides dacela, the common recluse, is a butterfly in the family Hesperiidae. It is found in Senegal, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Bioko, Gabon, the Republic of the Congo, the Central African Republic, Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, western Kenya, western Tanzania and northern Zambia. The habitat consists of forests. The larvae feed on Raphia and Phoenix species (including Phoenix dactylifera).
