Thymiatris seriosa

Description

Thymiatris seriosa is a moth in the Xyloryctidae family. It was described by Alexey Diakonoff in 1966. It is found in Assam, India. The wingspan is 60–65 mm. The forewings are dark brownish purple, with a silky gloss, moderately mixed with whitish except along the costa. This mixing more distinct below the line formed by the upper edge of the cell and veins 7 and 8. The edges of the cell, a broad vertical bar along the closing vein, and narrow, less distinct streaks along the veins beyond the cell are scarcely mixed with white and the posterior third of the costal edge is indistinctly suffused with pale ochreous with three distant and very faint pale ochreous spots posteriorly, the termen with a series of roundish deep orange-brown spots, confluent, so as to form a complete band, strongly constricted at interspaces between the ends of the veins and gradually narrowed downwards, from the apex to above vein 3. The hindwings are glossy light greyish, towards the edge suffused with dark fuscous, the veins narrowly brownish.
