Description

Davara caricae, the papaya webworm moth, is a species of snout moth in the genus Davara. It was described by Harrison Gray Dyar Jr. in 1913, and is known from Panama, Puerto Rico and Florida. The larva damage papaya by weaving a web around the fruit and stem and then feeding on the fruit under this web. They mainly feed on newly developing fruit peel around the stem area.
