Description

The squared tail kite is a slender bird of medium size,with long graceful wings.It measures 50-55 cm in length and has a wingspan of 130-145 cm;the male weighs about 500 g,the female about 635 g.The adult has a characteristic crest and a reddish-brown plumage with black streaks on the head which contrasts sharply with the white of the face.The lower part of the back and the rump are blackish and streaked with greyish-brown,as well as the central coverts of the tail,while the ventral region is brown-reddish.All feathers that cover the chest and abdomen are black in the central part
