Acipenser sinensis is a ray-finned fish species from the family of sturgeons (Acipenseridae).The scientific name of the species was first validly published in 1835 by Gray.The species is on the Red List of the IUCN as Critical,assessment year 2009.The size of the population is decreasing according to the IUCN.
