Description

The Californian aliclaro merganser (Synthliboramphus hypoleucus),also known as the light-winged alcite,Xantus's barb or Guadalupe's marsh,is a species of caracipiform bird of the Alcidae family that lives in the Pacific Ocean,in the the current of California.Breeding on the islands off the coast of California and Mexico.It is threatened by predators introduced into its breeding colonies,such as rats and cats,and by oil spills.It is small,24.5 cm long and a wingspan between 38 and 43 cm,compared to the birds of his family.Its plumage is black on the upper parts and white on the lower ones.Its head is small and its beak is narrow and pointed.It resembles its kinsman the allioscuro Californirano merge,although it differs from it by having the lower part of the white wings.
