(Anas querquedula)
It measures between 37 and 41 cm long.It is somewhat larger than the common teal (Anas crecca) with the longest and straight bill and the slightly longer tail.The reproductive plumage of the male is mainly grayish brown,with chestnut tones on the cheeks and chest.It has a wide white band in the shape of a half moon that goes from the eye to the nape and the dark pileus.Its flanks are gray while its belly is whitish mottled.It has black elongated scapular feathers with white edges and a green mirror flanked by two white white bands.Its bill is blackish and gray legs.The females are veined brown tones,with a superciliary listmore diffuse and short,and his eyeglass is grayish brown with only a slight green glow.Its bill and legs are gray.The males in eclipse have a plumage similar to that of the females although with the coverts of the blue-gray wings and keeping the green mirror.
