Description

Belzebul alouatta is a species of howler or guariba a New World monkey family Atelidae and gender alouatta,popularly known by guariba-of-hands-redheads,guariba-of-hand-red,guariba black or howler-of-hands -ruivas.It is endemic to Brazil,and has a disjoint geographical distribution,occurring two separate populations: one in the Amazon and another in the Atlantic Forest of the Brazilian Northeast.They are large primates,with up to 1 meter head-tail length,and weight between 6.5-8.0 kg in males and 4.8-6.2 kg in females.His coat is short and rough,with a well developed beard;It has black or dark brown fur with reddish brown hands,feet and tail portion: other coat variations that defined distinct subspecies are now considered different species ( Alouatta belzebul discolor and A.belzebul ululata ).Its tail is prehensile,and exhibits slow locomotion,quadrupedal,rarely jumping.
