(Ammodorcas clarkei)

galery

Description

The dibatag has a head-body length of 152-168 cm,a tail of 30-36 cm,a height at the withers of 80-88 cm,and a weight of 22-35 kg.The upper, darker regions are reddish-purple in color, the lower regions are white, and the buttocks are light in color;along the sides there is no dark stripe.Along the middle part of the face runs a strip of brown color;the tail is black. The particular purple hue of the reddish coat blends so well with the surrounding environment to make this animal very difficult to spot. The dibatag has a slender constitution and recalls the species of the genus Gazella in the form of the body and those of the genus Redunca in the structure of the horns. The neck and the tail are long, the flat skull and the small hooves. The horns, present only in males, measure 15-25 cm in length;their basal half is ringed and turned backwards, while the terminal half is smooth and facing forward.Unlike the gerenuk,it has rounded ears, not pointed.
