Lowland anoa

(Bubalus depressicornis)

galery

Description

The lowland anus measures about 160-170 cm in length and 70-106 cm in height at the withers;with a weight that reaches 150 kg in females and 300 kg in males,it is one of the smallest cattle. Its tail does not exceed 30 cm.As is also the case with other forest mammals, the anoa is higher on the back than on the back;this allows it to penetrate easily under the branches and through the spots. The horns of the anaa, short, straight and pointed, constitute very dangerous offensive and defensive weapons.Their length ranges from 27 to 37 cm in the male, and from 18 to 26 cm in the females;implanted very close to the upper part of the eyes, they are,at the base,of triangular section. The legs are short and recall those of the antelope;equipped with rounded hooves, they have coroni spurs directed to back. The color of the coat is dark brown, but often,in females,it is clearer. The chin sometimes carries a small white patch;the tail ends with a tuft of thin hairs. The hair is short and woolly in appearance.
