Aders’ duiker

(Cephalophus adersi)

Description

The Ader duiker ( Cephalophus adersi ) is a species of artiodactyl mammal of the Cephalophinae subfamily of Unguja (the main island of the Zanzibar archipelago ) and the southwest coast of Kenya. He is active during the day and lives in very territorial couples. It feeds on flowers, leaves and fruits, taking advantage of the remains that the monkeys and birds discard, since they live in the trees.Like many other duikers,it has a silky smooth fur with a reddish crest on the top of its head.It is in serious danger of extinction since there are less than 1400 specimens in the wild and 150 in the domestic state.
