Description

The duiker Peters ( Peters's duiker Peters,1876 ) is a small antelope native to the rainforests of the ' Central Africa.It belongs to a group of shy and elusive African mammals,the cephalopters,which are almost always spotted in passing while they are plunged into the shelter of dense vegetation.With a length of 80-115 cm and a weight of 17-24 kg,that of Peters is a rather large size cephalopop;its mantle varies in color from light to bright red-brown and dark brown;on the shoulders,along the spine,runs a large dark band that widens near the hips.Whatever the color of the coat,on the forehead,between the short pointed horns,there is a tuft of red-brown hairs.The forehead of the Peters cephaloph is the most reinforced among those of all the other cephaloptics,with a bone coating that in some males can reach 13 mm in thickness.
