(Eudorcas thomsonii)
The Gazelle Thomson ( Eudorcas thomsoni ) is one of the species of gazelle most known and widespread. The name recalls the explorer Joseph Thomson. Some scholars (Kingdon,1997) believe that the Thomson's gazelle is considered a subspecies of the red-faced gazelle ( Eudorcas rufifrons ).Thomson's gazelle lives in the savannahs and plains of Africa and is particularly widespread in the Serengeti,a region straddling Kenya and Tanzania. The diet consists of grass and small shrubs.Thomson's gazelle draws most of the water it needs from the plants it feeds on.
