L ' antelope Pygmy Bates ( Bates's pygmy antelope ) - also known as dwarf antelope,antelope Pygmy or dwarf antelope Bates - is a' antelope tiny living in forests and moist thickets of ' Central Africa and West.It belongs to the same genus as the suni and the royal antelope. The adult antelopes weigh about 2-3 kg and are 50-57 cm long,with a tail between 4.5 and 5 cm.Only males have horns,3.8-5 cm long.Their coat is dark chestnut shining on the back and lighter towards the hips.Male antelopes are much larger than females. The Bates pygmy antelopes feed on leaves,buds,buds,mushrooms,grass and other various plants.They also feed crops,which makes them unpopular with growers.Near the cultivated fields they are often caught with laces.Generally they have a territory that is between 2 and 4 hectares.The males are territorial: they mark their territory with the secretions produced by the pre-orbital glands.Females are more friendly to each other and sometimes live in small groups.As they flee they make a sound like a dog's barking.Most pygmy antelopes mate at the end of the dry season and at the beginning of the wet season.The gestation period is 180 days,after which only one baby is born.The weight of young people is between 1.6 and 2.4 kg.
