The crowned hornbill ( Anthracoceros coronatus ) is a species of bucerotiform bird of the Bucerotidae familyThe crowned hornbill is a large bird that is about 65 cm long.Its plumage is mostly black,although its belly is white,a spot on the throat,the sides of its tail and the leading edge of its wings.The beak is yellow with a large black shell.The females have the skin of the white eye socket,while in the males it is black.The juvenile specimens do not have a casque.It is sometimes confused with the Anthracoceros albirostris
