Description

Atelopus guanujo is a frog of the family toads (Bufonidae) and the genus clubfoot frogs ( Atelopus ).The species was first scientifically described by Luis Aurelio Coloma in 2002.Because the species has only recently been described,the frog is not mentioned in much literature.Atelopus guanujo lives in parts of South America and is endemic in Ecuador.The frog is known from a height of 2600 to 2923 meters above sea ​​level.The species occurs in a relatively small area and is therefore vulnerable.The species is considered 'Critical' by the international nature conservation organization IUCN.Atelopus guanujo has an orange-red to red-brown body color.The skin is warty.Males are about 3 to 3.7 centimeters long,females grow to 4.6 cm.
