Description

The Galapagos Shark ( Carcharhinus galapagensis Snodgrass & Heller,1905 ) is a species of shark of the genus Carcharhinus and of the family Carcharhinidae, which lives in more or less all the waters of the globe. It prefers pure waters that surround the oceanic islands and in particular the reef environment, where it is often the most widespread shark species. It is a large species, which normally reaches 3.7 meters in length, and which due to its fusiform body, typical of reef sharks,is difficult to distinguish from Carcharhinus obscurus andCarcharhinus amblyrhynchos, species that share the habitat with that in question.Characterized trait of the Galapagos shark is the first dorsal fin very slender upward, with a rounded tip and originating above the terminal part of the pectoral fins
