Golden-bellied mangabey

Description

The golden-bellied cercocebo (Cercocebus chrysogaster Lydekker,1900) is a monkey from the Old World,belonging to the Cercopithecidae family,which lives in the Congo.The species status was assigned to this cercocebo only in 2001.The species is very similar to the related species Cercocebus agilis (of which until 2001 was considered a subspecies ).The length of the body varies between 40 and 62 cm,that of the tail between 45 and 76 cm.The male,which can weigh between 7 and 13 kg,is considerably larger than the female,whose weight varies between 4.5 and 7 kg.The color is olive or brown-green on the dorsal side,while the ventral side has the yellow or orange color that gives the name to the species.
