(Cercocebus galeritus)
Cercocebus galeritus is a species of Old World monkey, which is seriously endangered. Some authors include taxa agilis and sanjei as subspecies, while others consider them as separate species. It is endemic to riverside forests along the lower Tana River and southeast Kenya. It is threatened by habitat loss and degradation, which has increased in recent times. The species was, along with the equally threatened Procolobus rufomitratus, the main reason for the creation of the Tana River Reserve in 1978,but the human invasion in the reserve still continues.
