Description

Presbytis potenziani is a mammalian species first described by Bonaparte in 1856.Presbytis potenziani is included in the genus bladapor and the family marked monkeys.The Swedish trivial name Mentawaibladapa occurs for the species.No subspecies are listed in the Catalog of Life.Wilson & Reeder (2005) distinguishes between two subspecies.This leaf leaf occurs on the Mentawai Islands south of Sumatra.The habitat consists of moist forests and in addition,the species sees agricultural land.It reaches a body length (head and bonfire) of 44 to 58 cm and a tail length of 50 to 64 cm.The weight is 5.4 to 7.3 kg.The fur has on the back,the tail,the upper side of the extremities and on a cam across the head a dark gray to black color.On the chest,at several places in the face and sometimes at the tail's tail,the coat is whiteish.Other parts of the body have a dark orange to light orange color.Individuals mainly eat leaves supplemented with fruits,flowers,bark,seeds and the trees' liquids.The species is hunted for the flesh and it is killed by farmers who regard it as pests on cultivated plants.Some individuals fall victim to traffic accidents and sometimes youngsters are caught to keep them as pets.The IUCN categorizes the species globally as highly threatened.
