Description

The mantle of the pomellato deer,with a fawn-pinkish color,is covered with white spots;also the ventral region is white.The boxes,which fall every year,are in the shape of a lyre,usually have three points and can reach 75 cm in length.Compared to the porcine deer,its closest relative,the spotted deer has a constitution more suited to the race.It also presents more evolved morphological traits,such as pedicels of relatively shorter stages and smaller auditory bubbles,as well as larger nostrils.It measures about 90 cm in height at the withers and weighs about 85 kg;the males are larger than the females.He lives around 8-14 years.The pomellato deer has well-developed pre-orbital glands,provided with rigid hair similar to small twigs.It is also equipped with metatarsal glands and podals on the hind legs.In males,the pre-orbital glands are larger than in females and open very often in response to certain stimuli
