Bawean deer

(Axis kuhlii)

galery

Description

The deer of Bawean is very similar to the porcine deer, its close relative, but, unlike this, has the coat without stains. The very soft pelt is light brown in color;the tail is slightly thicker.Like many other animals that live in the forests, the shoulders are slightly lower than the rear, making it easier to move in the thick undergrowth. The boxes are relatively short and end with three points;as in almost all deer, they are present only in males. It measures about 140 cm in length,65-70 cm in height at the withers and weighs 50-60 kg.
