Description

The frilled shark ( Chlamydoselachus anguineus Garman,1884 ) is a species of shark of the family of Clamidoselachidi with a vast but fragmented distribution,the oceans Atlantic and Pacific.This species lives on the outer area of the continental shelf and the upper continental slope,generally near the bottom.It lives up to 1300 meters of depth,although in the bay of Suruga,in Japan,both more common at depths of 50-200 meters.Presents numerous primitive characters,which earned him the name of " living fossil ".Its body,which can reach 2 meters in length and is dark brown,recalls that of an ' eel with dorsal fins,pelvic and anal in a very backward position
