Description

Oreochromis lidole is a species of fish in the Cichlidae family.It is endemic to Malawi and can be found in Lake Malawi,Lake Malombe and in the Shire River in Malawi.Its natural habitats are rivers and freshwater lakes.It is more popularly referred to as 'Chambo'.Oreochromis lidole is a tilapiine cichlid fish,a member of a group that includes some of the major freshwater food fish species known as 'tilapias'.This species is found only in and around Lake Malawi (also known as Lake Nyasa),where it forms part of a complex of similar and closely related species believed to have diversified within the lake.
