Description

The dove of Santo Tomé ( Columba thomensis ) is a species of columbiform bird of the family Columbidae endemic to the island of Santo Tomé,located along the western coast of Africa.It lives mainly in mountain forests and is currently in danger of extinction.The dove of Santo Tomé measures 37 and 40 cm long.It has a gray head,while the plumage of its upper parts is mainly blackish,with a fine mottled light on its wings.Its lower parts are dark gray with a certain garnet hue.It presents purple iridescences and garnets on the chest,neck and mantle.
