Description

The Western gura is 66-75 cm long and weighs 1800-2400 g.General coloring dark bluish gray.The crest is gray-blue with silvery shades and paler than the rest of the body.Wings and tail have more intense colors and the tail ends with a pale grayish blue band.The upper parts of the body and the wing coverts are dark purplish red.The wings have a white spot and have the violet terminal part.Young people resemble adults but have a cream-colored stain instead of white on their wings,the gray tint and red of the wings will turn into brown in adulthood.G.c.minor,of the islands of West Papua,has a greater number of melanic individuals but does not show significant morphological differences from the nominal form
