Description

The European Roller (Coracias garrulus Linnaeus,1758) is a bird Coraciiforme belonging to the family of Coraciidi.The chest and the belly are turquoise blue,as well as the head,while the back is dyed of light brown,except the rump and the upper part of the tail which are greenish-blue,with the brown central straight feathers.The two external feathers of the tail are a little longer than the remaining ones and the caudal tip has a black spot that constitutes the distinctive trait of the species.In flight the wings are very showy,blue in color,with black borders.Both the legs and the beak have dark shades and from the base of the beak a fringe of black leaves through the eyes,assuming the appearance of a mask.
