Description

Aaptosyax grypus,engl.Giant Carp Salmon is a large,endangered predatory carp species of monotypic genus Aaptosyax and comes exclusively in Southeast Asia before.While it is referred to in Chinese as and in Laos Pa Sanak or Pa Sanak Gnai,this species is called Thai Pla Chanak.Aaptosyax grypus was scientifically described by Rainboth only in 1991.The predator has an elongated body and a fatty eyelid that covers most of his eye.In his big mouth there is a notch in the upper jaw.The species can be up to 130 centimeters long.The largest caught in the Mekong giant salmon carp weighing more than 30 kilograms.
