The giant armadillo or giant tatú (Priodontes maximus Kerr,1792) is a crawler mammal belonging to the family Dasypodidae,the only representative of the genus Priodontes F.Cuvier,1825.Body length 110-120 cm,Length of the tail 40-50 cm,Weight 45-55 kg.Characteristic are the claws that arm the five fingers of the forelegs,which can also measure 12 cm in length.
