Irrawaddy dolphin

Description

The Irawadi river dolphin ( Orcaella brevirostris ) is a species of cetacean odontocete in the family Delphinidae.It is a dolphin that inhabits the coasts and estuaries of Southeast Asia.This species has a large melon and a dull head,rounded and devoid of beak.The dorsal fin is short,dull and triangular.It is located about two thirds of the body,along the back.The fins are long and wide.Slightly colored throughout the body,the lower surface is whiter than the upper part.The length is about 1 m at birth and 2.3 m at full maturity.The birth weight is about 10 kg.The weight of the adult exceeds 130 kg.Life expectancy is close to 30 years.The Irawadi dolphin is a slow swimmer.It emerges in a rocking way and only raises the clearing of the flounder from the tail of the water to make a deep dive.
