Description

Epipedobates tricolor ( Boulenger,1899 ) is a frog belonging to the Dendrobatidae family.It has a length between 1 and 4 centimeters.Widespread especially in the central part of Ecuador,it is known in the scientific world for its strong toxicity,which can also be lethal.Of notable importance for therapeutic purposes,the discovery of a molecule produced by the frog,the hepatocin,which has proved to be an analgesic up to 200 times more powerful than morphine.Epipedobates tricolor is a species of dart frog.It is endemic to Ecuador and lives in the Andes mountains in central Ecuador in the province of Bolivia.They have brilliant colors.This species is endangered,and it is known that there are only a few wild places where they live.
