Description

Engraulis ringens ( Jenyns,1842 ),known in Italian as Chilean anchovy is amarine bony fish of the family Engraulidae,similar to the European anchovy.E.ringens has a very similar appearance to that of the common European and Mediterranean anchovy with an elongated and tapered body with a round section and protruding snout.The color is silvery with bright blue or greenish reflections.The juvenile phases have a shiny silver band on the sides that disappears with development.The maximum known size is 20 cm,the average size is around 14 cm.
