Description

The yellow- colored beccolargo (Eurylaimus ochromalus Raffles,1822) is a passerine bird of the family of Eurilaimids.Dimensions: It measures twenty centimeters in length,including the tail.Appearance: These are birds with a massive appearance,with a large head with large eyes,a short,wide neck and a broad,slightly hooked beak at the tip,on the whole looking like little corvids.The livery is black on the head,back,shoulders,wings and tail: the latter comes with white-tipped feathers on the lower side,as the wing feathers on the inner surface are white-greyish,with decided yellowish shades on the level.of limb attachment.Also the secondary coverts,the lateral margins of the remiges,the lower part of the rump,the tail,the undertail and the lower abdomen are yellow-whitish,while the rest of the belly and the chest are rosy and the neck is surrounded by a white band wider on the tail and very narrow on the nape.The eyes are amber,the beak is bluish with black margins,the legs are flesh-colored.In females the yellow parts are more faded and the white girdle is in contact with the rosato of the ventral zone,
