Description

Very similar to cod as a general appearance but with a taller body and much larger eyes.Even the head is more massive while the barb on the chin is small.The dorsal fins are three,the two anal fins,the caudal fin is wide and with a small central indentation.The lateral line is straight and black,clearly visible. The color is silvery,beige or olive on the back,with a round black spot very visible at the pectoral fins,which is a sure character for its recognition. It can reach a meter in length but is usually smaller than cod.
