Description

Batrachuperus tibetanus is a salamander from the family of Asian land salamanders (Hynobiidae).The species was first scientifically described by Karl Patterson Schmidt in 1925.The salamander is endemic in China and is found in the provinces of Tibet,Sichuan,Gansu and Shaanxi.The species was found at an altitude of 1500 to 4250 meters above sea level.Threats are the collection of specimens for the trade in traditional medicines and for human consumption.Little is known about the way of life and biology of the salamander.
