Description

The green lizard ( Lacerta viridis ),is a species of lizard of the family Lacertidae.The males have a green coloration with black spots on the back and yellowish on the belly,while in the females there is a bright green on the back and on the yellow-orange belly.In the middle of spring both sexes acquire a bluish coloration in the jaws,appreciable more frequently in the males.Its dimensions in adulthood is from the head to the cloaca between 10-15 cm,and from the head to the tip of the tail between 28-45 cm.The young are born with a brown coloration on the back,and greenish on the belly passing unnoticed to predators among the fallen leaves of autumn.
