Description

The Indian river tern (Sterna aurantia,JE Gray 1831),is a bird of the subfamily Sterninae in the Laridae family.The Indian river tern,unlike most of the terns,has a dark gray plumage on its wings and back,on its head has a patch of black feathers that reaches up to the nape;in addition the wings have the white end part with a black spot on the tip.The neck and the belly are white;has a white tail with a gray base.The beak is bright yellow while the webbed paws are red.
