Description

Lophius gastrophysus, commonly known as blackfin anglerfish or blackfin goosefish, is a species of anglerfish in the Lophiidae family. It was described by Miranda Ribeiro in 1915. The species is found off the coasts of northern South America, Central America, Aruba, Cuba, and Costa Rica as well as the Gulf of Mexico and the United States on the depths of 200–700 metres (660–2,300 ft).
