Description

Xanthomyza phrygia or Anthochaera phrygia is a species of bird belonging to the Meliphagidae family.It is 20-24 cm long and has a wingspan of 30 cm.The male weighs 41-45.5 g and the female is 33-45.The head,neck,throat,upper chest and beak are black,while the lower and lower chest are pale lemon color with a black wavy pattern.Immature specimens are more brown.The feathers of the wings and the tail have the edges of bright yellow color.The eyes are dark pink or cream.The male is bigger and darker than the female,while the juveniles look like females but they are more brown and have a more pale beak.Its song is similar to the soft,metallic,ring of a bell and it feels more when it is not the reproductive age.
