Description

The bulldog of Cestoni ( Tadarida teniotis Rafinesque,1814 ) is a bat of the family of Molossidi widespread in the Palearctic Mid-sized bat,with head and body length between 74 and 92 mm,length of forearm between 57 and 64 mm,tail length between 37 and 57 mm,foot length between 9 and 12.1 mm,the length of the ears between 25 and 32 mm,a wingspan up to 45 cm and a weight up to 54 gThe fur is short,fine,soft and dense.The dorsal parts are ash gray or brownish-gray with the base of whitish hairs,while the ventral parts are lighter.The snout is long,truncated,with the upper lip extending well beyond the lower one and covered with 4 skin folds and small spatulate bristles.The ears are large,blackish,triangular and joined before the base.The tragus is short and hidden behind the antitragus,which is large and rectangular.The wing membranes are blackish and attached posteriorly above the ankles.The feet are small with a bearing on the plant.The tail is long,stocky and extends for more than half over the uropatagio.The karyotype is 2n = 48 FNa = 76
