Description

The turonian badger of Borneo ( Melogale everetti ) is a mustelid mammal that inhabits the north of the island of Borneo.The name of the species was placed in honor of colonial administrator and zoo collector Alfred Hart Everett.The ferret rate of Borneo has a head-body length of 35-40 cm and a long tail 16-17 cm.It weighs about 1-2 kg and has a relatively lean physical structure.The snout is elongated and the head and teeth relatively small.The predominantly dark brown color of most of the upper regions contrasts sharply with the lighter one of the abdomen.The head is adorned with a contrasting black and white (or yellow) motif,continuous or fragmented,on the nose,on the forehead,between the cheeks and the ears.The front legs are equipped with strong claws.Sometimes the ferret rate of Borneo is classified as a subspecies of the Burmese ferret rate.The species is monotypic.
