Lesser short-tailed bat

Description

The bat lesser short-tailed New Zealand ( mystacinidae tuberculata Gray,1843 ) is a bat of the family of Mystacinidi endemic to New Zealand.Small bat,with the length of the forearm between 40.8 and 43.4 mm,the length of the foot between 14.1 and 15.1 mm,the length of the ears between 17.4 and 18.9 mm.The fur is short,velvety and extremely dense.The dorsal parts are light gray,brown or blackish,while the ventral parts are lighter.The snout is short,pointed and with tubular nostrils.The ears are long,narrow and well separated.The tragus is long,narrow and tapered.The wing membranes are brownish-blackish or black.On the sides there are skin pockets where the wings are placed to move more easily on the ground.The lower limbs are short and squat.The end of the tail protrudes from the uropatage on its dorsal surface.
