Description

The bat in the Mexican funnel ears (natalus stramineus Gray,1838 ) is a bat of the family of Natalidi spread to Central America,South America and the Caribbean.The fur is long,smooth,soft and slightly woolly.The dorsal parts are light brown or light brownish-brownish,while the ventral parts are slightly lighter.The snout is long,flattened and covered with long dark hairs.The nostrils are small,oval and open laterally and downwards.The ears are cream-colored,squared,funnel-shaped and with a shallow recess on the back edge just below the pointed end.The tragus is short,triangular and with the tip bent forward.The wing membranes are long,narrow and attached at the back above the ankles.The tail is long and completely included in the wide uropatagio which free margin is fringed.The calcar is very long.The karyotype it is 2n = 36 FNa = 56.
