(Neodrepanis hypoxantha)
The false nectarinia ventregiallo (Neodrepanis hypoxantha Salomonsen,1933) is a passerine bird of the family of Eurilaimides,endemic to Madagascar.Dimensions: It is a small bird,only 9-10 cm long.Appearance: It has a short tail and a beak long,thin and markedly curved.During the breeding season the males show a blackish plumage with evident iridescent blue hues on the back,while the belly and the throat are very bright yellow.The beak and the legs are blackish;at the base of the beak and around the eyes,which are brown,there is a caruncle of ultramarine blue tending to turquoise.In females,but also in males outside the breeding season,the plumage of the back is more opaque,tending to olive green,while the ventral part is equally yellow.
