Description

The unique body shape of Phocoenoides dalli easily distinguishes it from other cetacean species.The animal has a very fine body and small head.The coloration is almost similar to that of an orca : the body is dark gray to black,with several well-defined spots on the flanks that start behind the fins and are tuned towards the head.The dorsal fin is located just behind the middle of the back and is very erect.The upper part has a mixed coloration of white to gray,like the fins.The fins of the adult specimens are curved back in a distinctive way.The Dall's porpoise is larger than other species in the family,as it can grow up to 2.3 m in length and weigh between 120 and 200 kilograms.The characteristic longevity is 15 years Rivalizes with the orca to be the fastest marine mammal,reaching 56 km / h.3
