Description

Cacajao hosomi is a species of uacari from the northwest of the Brazilian Amazon and south of the Venezuelan Amazon.It was discovered by Jean-Phillipe Boubli of the University of Auckland and described in 2008 along with Cacajao ayresi.Until that year,both species were considered sub - species of black-uacari.In English,the species is referred to as Neblina uakari,in reference to the Peak of the Haze,which is relatively the center of its geographical distribution.It occurs in the Pico da Neblina National Park and in the Serranía de la Neblina National Park,which shows that much of its distribution is in protected areas.
