Description

The southern tree damande ( Dendrohyrax arboreus ) is a species of hiracoide mammal of the family Procaviidae.It is endemic to Angola,the Democratic Republic of the Congo,Kenya,Mozambique,South Africa,Tanzania and Zimbabwe.Their habitat naturally are forests temperate,subtropical or tropical dry forests,subtropical or tropical low lands,savanna wetlands,and rocky areas.It has fingernails similar to hooves.Also,it has an odoriferous gland on the back covered by a lock of hair.It is a gregarious animal that lives in colonies of up to 80 individuals.
